This garden building for a Thames-side roof top was designed as a kit of parts that could be prefabricated in the workshop, transported easily and assembled on site.
Access constraints demanded that no element could be any larger than 2.2 m in order to fit the lift.
This light, simple building provides a useful storage space for the garden tools and has a glazed section for traditional greenhouse use.
Red cedar was used for the frame as it is strong, light and easy to machine. The natural timber will turn grey over time, eventually colour matching the surrounding cladding panels and fence which enclose the garden.
